Eurispes notes a general disinformation of Italians in environmental issues

Sensitivity to environmental issues among Italians was the topic of a survey from the Eurispes report 2020.

According to a scientific study by researchers from Australia's National Center for Climate Restoration (led by David Spratt and Ian Dunlop) with the worrying title "Existential climate-related security risk", if the world's economies are not converted into a sustainable lifestyle, within the year 2050 much of the terrestrial ecosystems will collapse, from the Arctic to the Amazon to the coral reef. Il 35% of the earth's surface, where does the 55% of the world population, it will be hit for at least twenty days a year by lethal heat waves, while the 30% of the earth's surface will become barren and uninhabitable. A colossal water crisis will affect millions of people, while global agriculture will implode, generating at least one billion climate refugees. Wars will no longer be fought over oil and raw materials, but for resources such as water, livability and arable land. Eurispes tried to understand what Italians know and what they think about it.

More than a quarter of Italians (26,6%) considers global warming the most urgent problem related to the environment. They follow: waste management (20,7%), air pollution (16,4%), hydrogeological instability (11,3%) and energy problem (11,2%). A solution to global warming is judged most urgently by young people 18 e i 24 anni (34,3%), more than double compared to the overs 65 (16,1%). Considering that the veg choice is one of the main methods for slowing the global temperature rise, these data show how fundamental the role of associations is in addressing the shortcomings of institutions in informing the population, especially the new generations.

It is also interesting to see what are the elements on which Eurispes he inquired about what changes they would be willing to make Italians to limit global warming: use low consumption light bulbs (79,4%)

The fact that there is not even a question about food choices, highlights how little felt the issue is even among those who prepared the survey.
