MujaVeg promotes the petition to save the otters.
With the Regional Law of the Friuli Venezia Giulia 9 June 2017 n.20, It was decreed the death penalty for all of the territory otters. Their crime is being born far from their home, where they lived peacefully until the early '900, when then they were captured and carried away, also in these parts to raise them and kill them to cutoff the fur from the corpse. But when it was realized that they cost less and farms had fewer controls in other parts of the world, Some otters were lucky enough to be freed and be able to make a life worthy of the name. Today he returns to kill, because some of the countless families that inhabit this territory, They have created damage to embankments and crops.
The national law on the subject is clear, the control is <<usually practiced through the use of environmentally friendly methods of opinion of the National Institute for wildlife (ed today ISPRA). If the Institute verify the ineffectiveness of those methods, regions may authorize reduction plans>>. For ecological methods they intend to be humanely killed. There are several texts that describe them, but the most important is that of guideline for the control of otters ISPRA. Friuli Venezia Giulia has also decided to fund a study to identify and test systems to decrease the ability of otters. The question arises, what sense does it make a study to reduce the fertility of animals and simultaneously to order the shooting and the gas chamber?

For these reasons, we have proposed a petition that requests a change of the Regional Law 20/2017. Only as a third option there are methods and tools provided by the scientific community.
